Today, May 5, 2014 is our 52nd wedding anniversary! Where did the years go?

Today is really a big day for us in several ways.

We’ve been in Lakeland, FL since late last September with only a short visit back to our family at Christmas.  We are getting itchy to see the whole family of children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren.

Once we get there it’s easy to see everybody because they all live within 10 miles of each other and about 35-45 miles from our summer camp.

My standing orders from my wife, Lynn, are to be back home for Mother’s Day.

So reason number one that today’s a big day for us is that we have been sure we have completed EVERYTHING we need to do so we can leave Florida for Upstate New York tomorrow morning at 5:45 AM.

Secondly, today is our 52nd wedding anniversary. As important as each anniversary is to us, the last one and this one really remind us more of our 50th anniversary than the current one.

You see, we had a wonderful celebration and Renewal of our Wedding Vows in a church and then a delightful reception for about 90 family and friends two years ago.

It would be so easy for me to get carried away and expose you to a lengthy, wonderfully professionally photographed slideshow of the occasion but I am resisting that urge … so far. We used that slide show as a computer desktop background for about a year and a half until we changed over to 100 pics from last Christmas.

NO, I can’t resist any longer… so mercifully, here is a link to a 4 minute YouTube slideshow with a nice musical background if you want to share our special event. Do take a look.

And lastly, of course, we get a lot of the world to join in our celebration with Cinco de Mayo!

I’ve scheduled several posts for this week already so you shouldn’t see any interruption.

So, goodbye to Lakeland…we love you in winter and hello to Lake George. Please get above 60 degrees… IT IS TIME!!!
