What’s your image of typical college students?

In the news all you see and hear is orgies, sadistic initiations, alcohol, drugs and raucous Spring Breaks.

Not a pretty picture for parents spending tens of thousands of dollars to give their children/young adults a chance to get a head start on having a successful career in life.

But is this an accurate portrayal of the majority of college students?

I think not.

Here’s an example of some caring students who showed a lot of personal integrity and compassion toward someone who showed a similar caring attitude toward them and their fellow students.

Kathryn Thompson

Kathryn Thompson, a food service worker at Elon University, Elon, North Carolina got the surprise of her life when the efforts of Lucy and Taylor gave her a lifelong dream come true.

Way to go, Lucy and Taylor!

I love stories like this one.

I wish we saw and heard MANY more of them because I know they are out there and they could go a long way toward restoring our faith in humanity.

We need good reasons to feel more optimistic than the TV and print news allow us to feel.

So, in that spirit, please share this reason for optimism with your friends.

Good news doesn’t sell well to advertisers so we have to spread it whenever we find it.
