Elisabeth Elliot, Missionary and Best Selling Author Dead at 88
Elisabeth Elliot, wife of Jim Elliot, a young missionary killed by remote tribal Auca Indians in the jungles of Ecuador as he was trying to make missionary contact with them, passed through her own gates of splendor on Sunday at the age of 88 years.
Elisabeth Elliot and her young daughter, Valerie, continued the work her husband began and was successful in establishing a friendly missionary relationship with the Aucas and another nearby Quichua tribe.
She wrote Through Gates of Splendor, Jim Elliot’s story, and several other bestselling Christian books.
