I Like Giving – Soccer Balls
I Like Giving is an organization with a website that is dedicated to “inspire the world to live generously through stories”.
Its a great website so be sure to check it out at the link given below.
Every time we give, a story begins.
I Like Giving exists to inspire the world to live generously through stories.
Check out three of our most popular films, I Like Car, I Like Being 98 and I Like Laughter. Our films have been viewed more than 25 million times in over 170 countries. The website ilikegiving.com is a platform for storytelling and idea sharing. As a result of countless stories of generosity, in 2014 the book “I Like Giving: The Transforming Power of a Generous Life” was born. It has been named one of the top inspirational christian books of 2015. I Like Giving also works with churches and organizations to inspire generosity in unique ways. A Personal Sidelight
I gave soccer balls to Mexican children on an Adventures in Missions trip to Reynosa, Mexico 20 years ago. The trip was a life changing experience for my wife, Lynn, for me and for our 12 year old daughter, an avid youth soccer player.
Our team brought about 50 soccer balls and an equal number of youth soccer team jerseys that were left over from our Town recreational program from the prior season.
The gifts to impoverished children did wonders:
- They opened doors to children and families
- They were better than your favorite Christmas present in terms of how children gratefully and joyfully received them
- They gave our Team instant credibility and attractiveness as we sought to share Vacation Bible School stories and introduce children (with their parents very willing permission) to Jesus.
I Like Giving – Soccer Balls
This story is similar to my personal experience except that the young boy in the video and his family have taken the process a lot farther, collecting about 1200 soccer balls to distribute in South Africa.
Watch and be inspired.
Don’t miss the Dad’s comments about how valuable this kind of activity is for his family.
That video brings back a lot of memories.
I think my time in Mexico was helpful to the people we met there. We built a house for a grateful 3-generation family, ministered to children and in prisons for men and for women and in the process we were changed for life.
I hope you visit the I like Giving website and that you will share this post and the website with your friends.
