Is God Really Dead – in Our Military? I Don’t Think So!

Military Men in Participatory Worship

Is the Government Killing God in the Military?

There seems to be a concerted effort to eliminate God from the military ( and almost everywhere).

I have been reading and seeing on TV news that our military is being scrubbed of references to God and religion, specifically, Christianity.

Training manuals are being secularized.

Military Chaplains are told not to pray specifically Christian prayers in assemblies of troops.

The oaths of allegiance are being scrubbed of “…so help me, God”.

There are many more such stories out there – just Google “Anti-Christian Bias in the Military”.  Most, I’ll wager, true.

Have you seen these kinds of news items?

What do you think about this kind of “diversity” sensitivity approach.

I don’t like it.

It’s one thing to be respectful of the right of each individual to choose a religion, or none, but dumbing down all religious expression in the public square, military or civilian to a few innocuous, nonspecific words is not the answer, nor is it constitutional, in my humble opinion.

Nor does it reflect the views of many, even a large majority, of the men and women in the military.

Now with that admittedly opinionated preface, I offer a video first (I believe) appearing on Facebook posted by Merrie Pardee Baldwin which was going viral with over 350,000 “shares”.

The video was titled Participatory worship. I love how excited the men get to sing this song & the camaraderie. “Days of Elijah”.  The event was a monthly Christian service at the Camp Pendelton, California Marine base.

Whatever your particular form of Christian worship, I confess that I, like Merrie Pardee Baldwin, am excited and encouraged to see this many young military men (I didn’t see any women but I could be mistaken) so joyously and passionately singing and gesturing in praise to God.

Remember, these people are putting their lives on the line for us in perilous times.

Anything that tamps down or, even worse, removes their right to full religious expression and exposure is shameful.

And I should make clear that other religions should have the same opportunities available to them without suppression or persecution, as long as they do not preach and practice annihilation of those who disagree with their religion.

Here’s the video so you can see what I’m talking about.

 Etc.
