Introducing Christian Living in a Secular World

New Focus - New Name - New Look

Starting today, the name of this website is - Christian Living in a Secular World. The web address remains dickstannard.com

Why? What's Going On?

I analyzed traffic to My World As I See It over the past 5 years and found a clear trend away from the posts that discussed serious (or even humorous) matters of Faith and Family and toward my photo galleries and travel posts. That is not why I wanted to blog.

So I have taken down all the photo galleries and the travel and uncategorized content, leaving only content about Faith and Family. This content features over 270 posts. It covers a wide variety of faith and family information, events, people's stories and helpful advice about issues and struggles that we all face in our lives.

Do yourself a favor and visit the archives frequently. My Handy Archive Page will direct you to posts by date or by category.

Where Do We Go From Here?

I'm glad you asked/wondered!

As I said on the Home Page...

"Living the Christian life is getting more difficult as our culture becomes more secularized and more spiritually diverse. Things like bringing a Bible to school can become a cause for divisive disagreement between students, parents, educators and outside groups like the Freedom From Religion Foundation and Americans United for Separation of Church and State and others.

Bathrooms are no longer divided by biologically defined genders.

Our national heritage is being attacked and redefined to take God out of it.

The turnaround from Christianity being an esteemed and vital part of of our public life (Merry Christmas, In God We Trust, etc.) to Christiainity being actively sought out for attack and marginalization has been shockingly rapid.

Is there any hope it will turn around? The answer, unfortunately, is unclear.

So, what are we to do?

How are we to live as individual Christians and Christian families both privately and publicly?

This is why I have decided to reorient this blog, and some other avenues of expression, more directly to answering these questions."

More Specifically,

I will be changing the "flavor" of the blog from a variety of mostly "feel good" stories to one that is more serious and more important, I think.

I plan to continue using a mix of curated content that I find on the Web, with analysis and/or commentary by me. I will also continue using original content that I write using more of my own thoughts, opinions and life experiences as we look into the issues and areas of importance to Christians and Christian families.

I expect the result will be a mixture of Good News - Bad News as we explore issues where Christians are victorious as well as where we may be losing ground.

I will also add posts from time to time that may not exactly fit Christian issues and concerns but ones that add something of value inspirationally or even humorously - kind of "feel good".

After all, Christians like "feel good" stories, too!

My next post will be the story of how the New York Yankees, Billy Graham and my black and white TV all conspired to bring me into the family of God.

Don't miss it!

And now...a Quiz. Are you ready?
