The Lebanon/Israel border is easy for a tourist to spot: Israel is green and Lebanon is brown!
Israel is a land of green fields of flowers and vegetables all grown with a scarcity of water.
In addition to food production, Israel has literally blossomed with flowers, flowering shrubs and vines and all kinds of beautiful flora.
I don’t know about you but I have always had the impression that Israel was mostly rock and desert, like most of the Middle East. That’s what I have seen in movies (think Lawrence of Arabia) and pictures.
In fact, much of the Middle East IS rock and desert and finding enough workable land for farming and food production as well as for grazing animals has been a problem for centuries.
One of the first comments our tour guide passed on when we visited close to the border of Lebanon was that is was very easy to know where the border was: Israel was green and Lebanon was brown!
The Israeli’s have done a remarkable job of turning the dry land into productive farmland to feed themselves and their livestock.
