Who is Father Ray Kelly?

Father Ray Kelly is the priest of St. Brigid′s & St. Mary′s parish at Oldcastle, County Meath, Ireland. He is in his mid sixties and he is a worldwide YouTube sensation. He has loved to sing throughout his life and he struck a deeply moving chord in over 78 million of people since the video below was posted on YouTube in 2014.

The most popular post on my blog is a (legally) modified version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah by Kelly Mooney from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Kelly was asked to sing the haunting melody with its original lyrics for an Easter mass but the theology wasn’t quite right for the biblical Christian view. She reworded some portions of the lyrics with permission and it went viral on the internet.

I don’t know about you, but I think the use of this version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in a wedding ceremony is very appropriate and very moving. The video was created from the live ceremony and additional accessory scenes from before and after the ceremony.

What do you think? Want to put it your wedding?

Father Ray Competes in Britain’s Got Talent

Fast forward to 2018 and Father Ray decided to give this viewer-favorite show a try. The video below is his audition to get into the competition.

Father Ray made it into the competition but was not the final winner. His exposure from the YouTube wedding video and the BGT exposure launched him into more and wider influence both musically and spiritually.

He has a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FatherRayKelly that covers both his local and worldwide activities Etc.
