JJ Watt, a Hero – and – Oh Yeah, He Plays NFL Football

JJ Watt isn’t one of my favorite football players because he doesn’t play for my team, the New York Giants.

But JJ is one of my favorite people.

Why?

Because he is a hero.

Some heroes do something that affects a lot of people, like shooting down the plane that would have sunk an aircraft carrier with 4000 aboard.

Some heroes give up their lives to save others, like firemen and police officers.

Some heroes work with people quietly, often one at a time, giving of themselves to change a life for a lifetime.

JJ is one of these.

Watch and see what he does for a young boy whose life is made miserable by school bullying.

Remember when Mean Joe Green of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the commercial gave the kid his uniform shirt?

Could that have been a life changer?  Maybe.

What JJ did is more likely to be a life changer for life. Only time will tell.

I know that JJ was recruited to do this for the PR value to the NFL but I don’t think that was his real motivation.

JJ has a foundation built on his personal motto Dream Big Work Hard.

The Foundation’s Mission is:

     Our mission is to provide after-school opportunities for middle-school aged children in the community to become involved in athletics, so that they may learn the character traits of accountability, teamwork, leadership, work ethic, and perseverance, while in a safe and supervised environment with their peers.

So far, the Foundation has raised and distributed, or to say it better, invested over $3million.

Good News is the Best News!

I hope many more stories like JJ’s will emerge and show the world that its the good things that public figures, athletes, actors, singers, etc. do that matter.

Getting into trouble shouldn’t be news.

Getting people out of troubles or hardship is what we need to see.
