How I Found the 40 Different Kinds of Fruit Tree

I was amazed to discover this TED Talk video about a tree that bears 40 different kinds of fruit.

I also found some further detailed information on the work of Sam Van Aken, the man who created this grafted wonder tree.

Sam is an artist who grew up on a farm and a man who became interested in fruit trees in a unique way.

The video tells his story and includes the amazing photo of a tree of 40 fruits in full bloom which you see here.

While the fruit varieties mature at different times during the growing season, this is a sample from midsummer.

I didn’t see a price for one of Sam’s trees but I’d guess it is pretty steep. It looks like its worth it if it’s in your landscape budget, though.
