I have continued my search for high quality, narrated video tours of important landmarks around the world, especially Castles and Cathedrals. Here is another gem – Bordeaux Cathedral.

According to Wikipedia:

Bordeaux (French pronunciation: [bɔʁdo] (About this soundlisten); Gascon Occitan: Bordèu [buɾˈðɛw]) is a port city on the Garonne in the Gironde department in Southwestern France.

The municipality (commune) of Bordeaux proper has a population of 257,804 (2019). Bordeaux is the centre of the Bordeaux Métropole that has a population of 783,081 (2017) and includes its suburbs and close satellite towns. With 1,195,335 in the metropolitan area, it is the sixth-largest in France, after Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, and Lille. It is the capital of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, as well as the prefecture of the Gironde department. Its inhabitants are called “Bordelais” (for men) or “Bordelaises” (women). The term “Bordelais” may also refer to the city and its surrounding region.

Within the cited UNESCO World Heritage area is the Bordeaux Cathedral, also cited on the World Heritage List.

Bordeaux Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral and the seat of the Archbishop of Bordeaux. The construction of the cathedral was an ongoing process between the 12th and 16th centuries. Thus, it took almost 400 years to fully complete it!

Some parts of the outer walls date back to the earliest phase of the construction, but the majority of the cathedral was built between the 13th and 15th centuries.
