Introduction to the Louvre

Rick Steves, world-famous tour guide and author of tour guide books, has posted a high-quality HD video of a partial tour of the huge Louvre Museum in Paris. So, if you are thinking of a trip to France, this is a great preview of a must-see, world-class attraction.

The YouTube description of the video follows.

“Filled with over 30,000 works of art, the Louvre is a treasure trove of Western civilization. This vast former royal palace is famous as the home to Mona (Lisa) and Venus (de Milo) but that’s just the appetizer course. You’ll find Greek and Roman sculptures and medieval jewels plus masterpieces from the Renaissance to Romanticism starring Michelangelo, Delacroix, Gericault and many others.”

I find it a bit overwhelming to comprehend the vastness of the museum and its 30,000 artworks.

Even so, this narrated HD video gives a good glimpse of the world-class attraction in Paris.

Enjoy.

Here is another 4+ minute video on YouTube produced by the Louvre.  This video follows a young adult couple as they visit the highlight areas of the museum.  This one has no narration but gives the feel of being one of the tourists with this couple in sight.
