Sabadell Flash Mob

This “flashmob” is an example of when a quickly gathered mob can be a good thing. It is an example of a popular YouTube video genre that’s been around for several years.

What you see here is in sharp contrast to the destructive, quickly gathering and quickly moving mobs of looters and burners in many US cities that we have seen on live television in recent days and weeks.

That kind of mob type makes us sad, angry, and disillusioned about our country. The extent of participation of so many people of all colors and backgrounds in acts of wanton injury, property destruction and desecration of symbols of great patriots and great institutions is puzzling and nauseating. And it was done in the name of one bad cop’s clear violation of rules, and of human decency and one human life mercilessly snuffed out without any justification.

Even conceding that George Floyd is not the only person to be treated wrongly, even to the extent of losing life…

There has to be a better way than violence, looting, and burning to make future things better.

There just has to be.

I decided to repost this popular post to show that all quickly gathered groups (mobs) are not bad. This one is an example of a good one that has touched over 88 million people and still counting.

The World Famous Som Sabadell Flashmob

Here is an upbeat YouTube video of the unique Som Sabadell Flashmob that has over 86 million views and years of staying power on YouTube!

The occasion for the video is the 130th anniversary of the Banco Sabadell, Spain.

This is the YouTube description of the video.

“On the 130th anniversary of the founding of Banco Sabadell, we wanted to pay homage to our city by means of the campaign “Som Sabadell” (We are Sabadell). This is the flashmob that we arranged as a final culmination with the participation of 100 people from the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Lieder, Amics de l’Òpera and Coral Belles Arts choirs.”

See how a little girl starts it all off!

How about the little girl that kicked it all off?

How many commercials get this many views?

I confess that I like it when a business does something more than just pitch their product or service.

That said, I don’t think I’d like to watch a 5-minute long soft sell commercial too often!

There are quite a few flashmob videos out there now. This one still attracts impressive amounts of traffic.
